Bold, daring and funky are some words I would describe Crumpler. Enter 2013, those qualities led Crumpler to expanded their Million Dollar Home (M$H) collection to more than just shoulder bag types. With the rising popularity of compact camera systems or mirrorless cameras, Crumpler knew these new breed of cameras needed a new home, hence the new 3 Million Dollar Home Sling Bag. Let’s look into this compact yet functional camera bag that sports the Crumpler’s daring character.

Design

For this review, I had the black 3 Million Dollar Home Sling (M$H). The other colors available are the Dark Red and Rifle Green. It’s weighs light and looks really small at its size at 20.5 x 21 x 10cm size. The weatherproof fabric remains tough and sewn tight. The sling strap has a buckle that can be swung across the shoulder or even used as a belt-bag. The bag may look small but opening the flap there’s main compartment with a removable divider and another buttoned front pocket with mesh sleeves for small items like batteries or memory cards. At the back there’s another zipper pocket to secure some loose change or bills, I just love how Crumpler puts effort in designing even the zipper details.

In Use

The 3 Million Dollar Home Sling looks really small but I was fairly surprised that I can fit a regular sized DSLR with a standard lens there. But I find that the 3M$H Sling is really meant for compact systems like the Micro Four Thirds or the NEX cameras. An Olympus PEN with a standard 14-42mm lens along with an extra 45mm 1.8 Zuiko lens there fits securely.

The bag sling has a buckle but I find the sling strap too short if I want to use it as a sling bag. I think this more ideal to be worn as a belt bag instead.

Verdict

If I want to travel light with minimal camera gear, the 3 Million Dollar Home Sling is a very good option. It is small but just right for a compact system camera. It can fit into a bag or used freely as a belt bag. Very good if you are shooting street as it’s easy to access the camera while on the hips. Using it as a sling bag feels awkward for me, if I want a sling bag I would rather go with the 3 Million Dollar Home Shoulder Bag. Wether you use it as a sling bag or a belt bag, the 3 M$H Sling still a very good minimal camera bag that feels sturdy, organized and perfect if you want to bring your camera around everyday.
