A New Look to an Old Favorite

The 2013 Crumpler 4 Million Dollar Home Shoulder Bag still sports the tried and tested form factor from their old generation bags. The sturdy build, crumpler-trademark tough stitch, abrasive-free and waterproof waterproof fabric is ever present. This time they went for a more playful color combination. For this review, I had the Rifle Green variant with a color combination of yellow, gray and blue interiors. I actually liked this combination. There’s also the Dark Red variant with orange and gray color combination. For the ultra-conservative, there’s the all Black color.

Design and Function

Having had the older generation Million Dollar Home Shoulder Bag, I first looked what has changed in this recent model. There were a few noticeable ones which were implemented since last year’s model. The front pocket is no longer that deep and doesn’t have that velcro lock. The flap no longer has that zippered mesh. The side pockets on the main compartment are also gone. But to add to the organization features, there’s the back zipper pocket.

The main feature remains the same. There’s the configurable padding for that desired gear spacing inside the bag. the front pocket I use to place memory cards, extra batteries and some filters. There’s a velcro silencer in front and a buckle to keep everything on hold. Closed, the items does feel secure inside and the one buckle-release is efficient if I need to access the camera quickly.

Verdict

The essence of the Crumpler 4 Million Dollar Home Shoulder Bag is still there, a sturdy shoulder camera bag coupled with a bolder design and color. While I would miss the features gone from the older generation Crumpler one I’m really digging the look of the 2013 designs. Still if you haven’t had a Crumpler yet and is looking for a camera bag for a basic setup (Like a camera body with one or two lenses), the Crumpler 4 Million Dollar Home Shoulder Bag is a very good option. It’s tried and tested. I’ve used it for street shooting for easy access and if I just want to bring less gear when traveling.
