After nine epic days of traveling to six cities – Kuala Lumpur, Bacolod, Cebu, Camiguin, Cagayan de Oro and Manila – and facing challenges that would test their physical fortitude and mentally strength while at the same time having fun, the five teams are back to culminate the exciting Juan For Fun Backpacking Challenge this 2014. Aside from travelling for free for nine days and using items from major sponsore, the teams get to take home special prizes depending on their rankings. And here are the winners.

Gotta give it to these youngsters. I can feel the energy, the zest and the thirst for adventure to the five teams participating for this year’s Cebu Pacific Juan For Fun Backpacker’s Challenge. We got to see them on their official send-off yesterday at Resorts World Manila as they fly to Malaysia, Juan For Fun’s first international destination. It’s their first stop as they head back to Manila then on to exciting stops at Legaspi, Cebu, Camiguin, Cagayan de Oro and Davao for nine days all for free! Isn’t it exciting? ALong the way, they would be guided by their adventure coaches Paolo Abrera, Gretchen Ho, Jude Bacalso, Bogart the Explorer and Luke Landrigan. Let’s get a quick look at the teams.

Salomon X-Trail Run 2014 | On the 6k Road to Trail

If you’re an experienced road runner, 6k seems like a walk in the park. But 6k on the trail is a lot different than you think. Add in the X-factor from Salomon and you got yourself some heck of a trail run. Last Saturday, I joined this years Salomon X-Trail Run 2014 hoping to explore the nature trails of Hamilo Coast,Pico de Loro . Initially I was planning to run the 12k trail but I had a nasty bump on my shin causing it to have some sort of a stress fracture forcing me to be cautious and safely run the 6k instead by the time it healed.  I had no regret running the 6k trail as it offered a little bit of everything I like about trail running in the mix.

Gearing up for Salomon X-Trail Run 2014

Unexplored beach coves, new and scenic mountain trails, and most of all the patented highly challenging running course that Salomon X-Trail Run has been known for. Nope this is not for the spoiled city slicker runners. It’s the place to bring yourself to the next level of running sport and enjoy the dynamics of running on trail. The scenery is just icing on the cake. In this afternoon’s media briefing, the organizers unveiled the new categories and trails for this year’s Salomon X-Trail Run to be held at Hamilo Coast, Pico de Loro this April 12, 2014.

Zero Gravity | National Bouldering Competition Leg 3 Winners

Last weekend of March 22 and 23, the Bonifacio Global City Amphitheater was the stage to find the toughest and smartest from the Philippine’s climbing and bouldering community. The Zero Gravity: National Bouldering Competition Leg 3 was held with over a hundred participants from different provinces converge. I was able to watch the finals and I never thought a bouldering competition like this can be this exciting to watch. It was interesting how the participants would carefully plan their climb and use their brawn and flexibility to execute them. Below are the results for the Men and Women’s Novice division and the Men and Women’s Open division. Some of the winners from the professional Open division became a part of the Philippine National Team for sports climbing.
