Filipino mobile brand Starmobile is pushing the boundaries of their mobile imaging with their flagship Starmobile Knight Spectra. It’s a 13MP + 2MP rear Dual-camera phone designed to entice photography enthusiast. I recently had the chance to do a field test of the Starmobile Knight Spectra in my recent travels to see how this flagship spec 5.5” screen dual-camera smartphone performs in the real world. In this review, my focus is on the phone’s imaging capabilities as well as sampling out-of-the-camera images.
There is a demand for enduring battery life for our mobile devices particularly smartphones. As a traveler who’s usually on the go, there isn’t always a chance to charge our smartphones especially in transit. Asus Philippines gave us a chance to try out their latest battery power behemoth, the Asus Zenfone Max ZC550KL. The Asus Zenfone Max boast a 5,000mAh lithium-polymer battery boasting a 38-day standby time. While I haven’t full tested its standby time, I had the Asus Zenfone Max gone through the demands of travel on a festival weekend in Cebu.
The streets were filled with energy of excitement. Of people with painted faces eager to experience the revelry going through the mid-day. A group of performers in their shimmering blue attire dances to the beat under the bearing sun. “Viva Pit Señor!!!” they shout as they raise their hands to the sky. Their festival queen dances gracefully, arching her back incredibly far and deep while raising the Sto Niño to the sky. How she retains her smile through this is a wonder as I try to capture this moment. My DSLR takes a back seat. From my pocket, I pull out the Asus Zenfone Zoom. I like the feel of the leather at the phone’s back cover which also helps with the traction on my hands.
A smartphone’s camera is no longer just an added feature but a necessity in this age of Instagram and Facebook social statuses. High-quality cameraphones tend to come with a steep price tag though. But here comes Asus Zenfone 2 Laser ZE500KL, a mid-range priced shooter boasting a class-leading Laser Autofocus that can lock into focus in 0.3 second. We put this camera into real-world use in my recent trips and see how it performs as a smartphone and cameraphone.
It’s been more than a month since my unboxing of the Huawei Honor 6 smartphone. Since then, a lot has happened from the company. They have recently announced its bigger brother Honor 6+ and its little brother Honor 4C. Even if Honor 6 came out in the Philippines late last year, it is still one of the compelling offers on the mid-priced sub–15,000 smartphone. In Lazada, it has also slashed some price since the release of their new smartphones to be more competitive. I’ve had the phone for more than three months now and I could say I have full tested the phone during my travels in Palawan, Cebu, Negros and Masbate. Here’s my take on the Honor 6 smartphone.
I’ve been long familiar with Huawei devices for quite a while now but more in line with their connectivity devices like pocket wifi, routers and usb dongles/wingles. It’s just so timely my old phone drowned and I was offered to review one of Huawei’s recent releases, the Honor 6. The Huawei Honor 6 is pretty interesting offering. At first look, people may be quick to judge that it’s a Chinese iPhone-copycat but it’s a highly capable smartphone with pretty impressive hardware in an affordable package. Let’s take a close look at the key features.
