It was one of those cases when I originally booked in one hotel but ended up in another. When I got back to Yogyakarta coming from my Borobudur trip, I took their efficient bus system and alighted at the station near JL Parangtritis. Hotel Winotosastro already caught my impression as I was passing by especially with their promo of IDR 137,500 (US$14) for their basic room but decided to take a very long walk to a lodging at the Jalan Prawirotaman. To make a long story short, the US$10 accommodation I booked was so far at the said street, I didn’t feel comfortable and secure with the room so I decided to just look elsewhere.
Convenience at Hotel Winotosastro
I found myself asking for a room and fortunately their cheapest Basic Standard Room at IDR 137,500 was still available. I wasn’t expecting much but I was surprised on how compact but clean the room was. The single bed was comfortable and has a pullout bed if 2 persons would be in the room. There’s a small side table with lamp. A complementary water, airconditioner, compact bathroom with a sliding door, cable TV and enough sockets for charging. My room was located at the 3rd floor but it wasn’t a problem for me.
The room rate includes breakfast of toast with coffee or tea. The also have a restaurant there with decent food which I tried as well. What I really liked is the location. It’s easy to find, near a convenient store and more importantly near the bus station.
It was a satisfying stay even just for a night. The staff were also there when you need assistance. Hotel Winotosastro actually have a few hotels in its name catering to different markets. This one near JL Timuran is for the budget to mid-range market. You can check www.winotosastro.com for other details. Would I recommend this place? Yes! If ever I’de return to Yogyakarta, I may stay here again.
